The Photographer

If you're a regular reader of my little o Blog, you've most likely seen a photo or 2 my oldest, Savannah, has taken. I just have to share the latest. Now, keep in mind, she's just 13, she's using a basic Phillips PT44434, 3.0 mega pixel digital camera (no zoom), and has had no photography classes. AND the photo has not been altered in any way. She said she took the pic by reaching behind her back, then between her legs {???} ~ I've now learned not to ask the photographer how she got the shot!! LOL Check it out ~

Pretty awesome, huh? She has no idea yet, but this one is going to be grabbed by Mom to be scrapped!! Speaking of scrapping, how would you like a little freebie??? I've been playing around trying to make glitter elements, {still think I need to work at it more} and made a bunch of hand drawn doodled glitter flowers for you to grab. Enjoy! ;)

A Fun {and Educational} Day Out

We just spent the morning at our local Science Center viewing a totally awesome exhibit ~ Gunther von Hagens "Body Worlds III". If you ever get the chance to see this I encourage you to do so. It's an exhibit with actual bodies {and body parts} that have been preserved through a process called 'plastination', and is a much more interesting way to learn about the human body than reading a text book or medical journal. We went with my mother {an RN}, my older sister {who is working on her nursing degee}, & my younger sister. It was nice to go with my mom, she was able to show, as well as explain the injuries my niece sustained, giving us a much better understanding of what her recovery will intail. And speaking of our niece, she had the stitches in her back removed & is now home & working on getting around with a wheelchair trying to do things she's capable of on her own. Next week she will have a tutor coming to the house to help her catch up on her studies. My SIL said she still tires easily, but has difficulty sleeping because of the pain. But all in all is doing very well.
On to other news ~ the little snippet of a kit is now a full kit ready for the store on Monday. It's called "Crack-A-Lackin" and was so much fun to make. Now, you may be askng "What the devil is crack-a-lackin???" It's a phrase I heard Savannah saying to her friends on day while chatting on the phone. I asked her what it ment she said it means "Whatever you want it to mean. So, if something or someone is cool they're 'crack--lackin'; if something or someone is lame they can be 'crack-a-lackin' ~ just depends." I love the word, it sounds cool {or should I say 'crack-a-lackin'!} and I must say this kit is definately crack-a-lackin {meaning cool!}! The alpha was also so much fun to make with all the little clusters hope you like as much as I do ;)

Just a Little Peek....

I'm still working on my latest kit, but thought I'd leave a little teaser here for you all to see what is in the works. Also wanted to give an update on our neice. Her back operation went very well, but she is in alot of pain. They fitted her for a brace & have had her up in the wheelchair almost every day. Yesterday she was moved to an acute rehab center where she'll be for the next 2-3 weeks. She's been up & down with her emotions. One day she doesn't want her mother around, doesn't want her to push her in the wheelchair, and is plain annoyed with her. (Typical for a teen!) But then she'll have a day when she's in such pain, she wants her mom to stay all night w/ her & hold her hand. My SIL said she's getting the maximum amount of pain meds, but still has alot of pain. The girls have the day off from school tomorrow, so hubby is going to take them to visit her & hopefully cheer her up some.
Now, on to that little peek of the latest kit in the works~

Until next time.....

S.W.A.K. for U!

Was wasting the day away playing with one of my older kits 'Stupid Cupid' & made a S.W.A.K. Kwick Stik & card. Thought it was just too cute not to share ~ lucky you!! Well, it wasn't a totally wasted day ~ I did manage to get in a couple of loads of laundry & go to the grocery store, and I did have a little photo shoot with he girls, I will have to upload those pics later.
And before I give you the link to the goodies, I thought I'd give you an update on our niece. She's going to have another surgery on Monday. The doctors are very concerned a cracked vertebrae in her lower spine may cause damage to her spinal cord &/or nerves with any slight movement. So they are going to pin it until it heals. Which means the poor girl will have to be flat on her back for about 2 weeks. I may be a very long 2 weeks for her. But better safe than sorry ~ 2 weeks of immobility is better than a lifetime of paralyses.

So, now for the goodies ~

Update

Thank you all so much for your kind words & prayers. It's much appreciated. Sadly, the girl on life support was pronounced dead about 11:00 am Sunday morning. Our neice is doing OK ~ considering.... We went to visit her last night. She had just recieved a dose of pain meds before we arrived, so was very drowsy, and our visit was short. She had both legs operated on on Monday night & now has 8 pins & a plate in her right leg, and 3 or 4 pins in the left. The also did a full body scan & found she has cracks in her hip, pevis & under her eye socket of the left eye. Nothing threatning, just very painful for her. My SIL is hanging in, trying to deal with it all emotionally while trying not to upset her daughter too much. Hubby has been a terrific suport system to his sister & neice, visiting every day & bringing them little things to help make the going easier ~ like pizza & a fan {the heat is turned WAY up at the hospital!}. I know it's really hard for him to see her hurting like that, but is still being a trooper & trying to help lift spirits.
So, until next time....

Sad, Sad Day....

I'm not one to Blog all my family's happenings, but this was just something I needed to get out.
About 6:14 this morning I missed a call from my SIL. I thought it was a bit odd ~ a call from her that early in the morning ~ AND on a Sunday. She is almost NEVER up that early. I was still in bed when the call came through, then went to do laundry & shower before I saw the missed call. Before I was able to return it, Hubby called ~ our 16 yr old niece and 4 other teens were in a terrible car accident about 4 this morning. Details are still a little sketchy, but our niece & a girlfriend told their Moms they were spending the night at another girlfriend's house, but instead went out joy riding with 3 or 4 guy friends. Apparently the car flipped over & our niece & her girlfriend were thrown from the car. The friend is on life support & things do not look very good. Our niece was "lucky". She has multiple scrapes & bruises on her face, {no concussion thank God}, but shattered bones on her right ankle & shattered bones in her left heel. She is currently in surgery & my SIL will know more when she's out. But one thing's for sure ~ she's going to be in a wheelchair for several months and may need both physical & mental therapy. They thought one of the boys was dead at the scene, but they've since gotten some brain activity, so are praying for good news.
Our niece just turned 16 on the 11th, and was so exited about getting her license, now it's going to be months before she can. I told the girls what happened, and can only hope this has an impact on them and they make the right decision if they're ever in a similar situation.
I am off to my Mother's to celebrate her 64th birthday with my sisters, it's a little silver lining on our cloud today.

Brrrrrr...Baby It's Cold Outside!!

It has been soooo cold this weekend! If there is one thing I could do without, it's the cold weather ~ LOL! I moved to AZ from MA to get away from the snow & freezing cold, & now we've had 2 days with highs in the low 50's. Yuck. The girls even found a small puddle in the grass from the sprinklers that had frozen!! Not what I wanted to deal with in "sunny Arizona!" I know, I know ~ stop your whining; 50 is a waming trend for many!! LOL. Beause I'm a big baby & won't go out in the cold unless absolutely necessary {like yesterday; I had to go to the grocery store, or we'd starve!} I did get a kit finished! Yeah!!! Chicklets is a pretty cool kit perfect for many kinds of layouts. Check it out & only $6.00 in the Store!!

My 3 Beauties

Just before Christmas Savannah was playing around with her camera taking pics of Riley near the Christmas tree. But these weren't your typical "pose in front of the tree" photos, oh no siree. Not when Savannah is the "Photog" {her phrase!} I was so amazed at the shots she got, & then Riley took some of Savannah. Not quite the same caliber, but great shots just the same. I wanted to send them off to the Relos, so asked Savannah to take some of the same of Darien. Darien was being very uncooperative, so Savannah gave up & I took over. Well, let me tell you ~ I got all kinds of criticisms from "Little Miss Photog"! I just couldn't get it right posing Darien, or getting myself in the correct position to take the shot. She actually huffed & left the room!! Diva!! Here is the result {I ajusted to B & W} ~

Happy New Year!!!

Well, almost! LOL! Now that the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season is over, I can relax & enjoy all the kids' toys!! LOL! Hubby got Riley a Nintendo DS ~ what fun we've ALL had with that game!!! Anyway, I had many requests for missing pieces of Funkafied Christmas & trying to keep track of who missed what part was just too much. {Remember, I'm just getting over Holiday fever AND had all those misbehaving ribbons to deal with!} So ~ what do I do so everyone is happy & gets all the pieces-parts? ???

I'm begining to hate titles. Some days I just can't think of one. Today is one of those days!! LOL! I'm feeling very lazy. I think it's a combo my unexpected day off & knowing I'll have the next 3 days off. I want to stretch it to 4 days off & call in. But today is payday, & I still have stocking stuffers to get. I know, I know, nothing like waiting until the last minute. But I'm not as bad as Hubby, he does ALL his Holiday shopping on Christmas Eve!!
Well on to today's goodie, here is part #22 ~ 2 solid ribbons & 2 photo prongs ~

I'm Baaaack!!

I got an unexpcted day off from work today. Every morning I drop Savannah off at school then get myself to work by 8:00. Lucky for me school & work are with-in 3 miles of home!! Anyway, she was having one of her typical 13 year-old meltdowns this morning about her hair. {I'm so sure I was never like that LOL!!!} I dropped her off, got to work, packed away my purse & lunch, got out my pen & call log, then just as I finished sweeping the voice mail, my cell rings. The school nurse at Savannah's school was sending her home because she had a runny nose, cough, and "didn't feel good". Geesh. When I was in school, unless you were projectile vomiting, & had a fever of 101 or higher you just "toughed it out". OK, that was more my Mother's rule, but schools didn't send kids home for the sniffles. So, I had to stay home w/ her because Sean wasn't able to, and I got one, yes one, layout done! I've hit a creative block, in creating both kits & layouts. I get ideas, but can't seem to get them "on paper" so to speak, the way I like. I'm blaming it on the ribbons. They've totally threw off my game!! LOL! So, this very simple layout took me 3 days to complete & about 3 hours today just to finish!! I figured after all that work I should show it off. It's not the greatest pic of Riley, but not the worst either!! So here it is ~

I'm Here w/ Part #21!

OK. So, many of you were here {again & again & again LOL} checking to see when or if part #19 was ever going to be posted, but didn't want to be "pests" and bother me w/ where I was. I would never think you were being pests!! Just kind, gentle friends wondering what's up. I don't even remember what was happening to cause me to forget!! We'll just stick to the excuse posted by NjO ~ I had Holiday Fever which made me forget what I was doing!! {BTW ~ yup, no Doctors excuse ~ I couldn't find one to diagnose the symptoms!!} LOL You may not have called me out on missing a day, but you you did let me know I had a repeat photo prong in part #19. {It had a ribbon on it, & you know how those ribbons have been giving me such a hard time!! If didn't love making & using them so much, I'd put them in a time-out!! LOL} So, for today, part #21 will include the correct photo prong with a pink ribbon, as well as 3 solid ribbons {now remember, there are ribbons in this download, so beware!!! LOL} ~
